DescriptionLate classical desk and bookcase veneered in highly figured crotch mahogany. Upper section is a bookcase with elaborate glazed fenestration with astragal-glazed muntins and additional applied diamond and chevron moldings. Turned and veneered columns flank the doors. A veneered ogee cornice above a shallow arched plinth surmounts the bookcase. The lower case has veneered fielded panels flanked by turned and veneered columns. The large horizontal fielded panel at the top is a fall front lid enclosing an interior consisting of six maple-faced drawers and numerous compartments. Below the desk lid is a center section with a single convex door and two side compartments with single fielded-panel doors. The front feet are large convex blocks, while the rear feet are simple rectangular extensions.
