DescriptionThis sculpture could be a modernistic flower form comprised of a dark purple, ball shaped vase with a gray and mauve reeded stem rising from the base. The form could also represent the decoration of traditionalaly decorated posts used in Venice, with each family decorating their posts with a distinctive pattern. The mauve and gray alternating strips of glass are approximately 5 cm. in width and spiral upwards to the top of the stem. This is a prototype sculpture for Venini that was never produced and was purchased directly from the designer.Exhibition History"The Sheri Sandler Collection of 20th-Century Italian Glass," Chrysler Museum of Art, July 14, 1998 - November 7, 1999.
