DescriptionBronze tobacco jar and cover with a brown finish. The body is formed by a framework of four horizontal and twenty-five vertical bronze bands. Where the bands intersect is a small metal dot. The lining was created by blowing opaque jade-green glass into the framework. This object was merely described as a "TOBACCO JAR, blown glass in wire" by Tiffany Studios in 1906, but its shape was probably derived from an ancient Roman cinerary urn. Louis Comfort Tiffany owned at least two. Tiffany's tobacco jars were in the catalogue of Park-Bernet's 1946 Tiffany Foundation sale that dispersed the contents of Tiffany's Laurelton Hall estate.
