Lisle 91.101 An innovator and champion of photography as an art form, Antoine François Claudet learned the daguerreotype process from its inventor Louis J. M. Daguerre. Claudet opened London's second daguerreotype studio and in 1853, became the official photographer to Queen Victoria. Credited as the inventor of the daguerreotype stereograph, Claudet is recognized for his exquisite hand-colored portraits. Claudet was a prolific writer on the technical problems and artistic attributes of photography.
