DescriptionThis is a print from the David L. Hack Civil War Photography Collection. This depicts two soldiers in uniform, facing the camera, crossing two large flags in front of their bodies. The flags appear tattered and worn. Large tassels hang from the poles. The soldier on the left is wearing a glove while the soldier on the right is not. This is a salt print with a gum coating from Alexander Gardner, _Gardner's Photographic Sketch Book of the Civil War_ (New York: Dover Publications, 1959 and 1972) (Hack Collection No. 34). The two soldiers in the photograph are believed to be Sergeant John Lyon (left) and Corporal Melvin Tucker (right) who served in the 16th Regiment's Company "A" and Company "C," respectively. The 16th Regiment was also known as "the St. Lawrence County Regiment."
