DescriptionThis is a gelatin silver print ofLabel TextPhilippe Lévy-Stab French (b. 1967) Greg Hutchinson, 1994 Gelatin-silver print Gift of the Philippe Lévy-Stab 2004.2.5 Lévy-Stab began photographing Jazz musicians at the age of 15 and now has photographed more than four hundred performing artists. His accomplished portraits of Jazz musicians are starkly graphic images executed with technical perfection. They capture enchanting moments recorded with immaculate precision. His admiration for the musicians and passion for the image have compelled him to create a delightful blend of the arts of music and photography. Considering the impact that African American Jazz musicians have had on music around the world, these photographs are very much about the art of our time.
