DescriptionTwo decks of playing cards in a plastic case. Once Again, but different this time, consists of two separate decks of playing cards, one in silver stock and the other in gold. It is a version, or edition of the previous Norton gift, the Oblique Strategies, but designed for Canasta, a fast-paced card game in which skill and judgment are emphasized. The cards are imprinted, each with an “oblique strategy”, a suggestion that one approach problems from different angles to find new solutions. The plastic box is tied in a gold ribbon.ProvenanceThe work was a December 2013 gift of the Peter Norton, Los Angeles, who commissioned it from the artist. The work was a gift to the donor, Lynn Gumpert, from Peter Norton. Lynn Gumpert donated the work to the Chrysler Museum of Art in September 2016.
