DescriptionA portrait oriented tricolor deep etching of an urban scene in Lagos, Nigeria. A group of citizens, of women and men, are tucked together under seven large umbrellas (each with different patterns) in front of an unknown couple of buildings. From left to right the colors shift from yellow and green to deep blue. At the bottom of the image from the left to right side are the title of the piece and the edition number (15/30) to is the artist’s name and date of the print.
ProvenanceThe work came directly from the gallery, who bought the works from a German collector who had gotten it from the artist in the later 1970s where it remained until now. The work is now coming to the museum.Exhibition HistoryThe work has not been exhibited before, and I have not found it to be published anywhere though a red-tinted version was sold with another lot of 2010.
