Lisle, M.D. 91.99.50 Stereocards offered would-be tourists an exciting way to experience the natural world from back home. When viewed through a steroviewer, the dual-image prints give the illusion of three-dimensional depth, making rocky cliffs and crashing falls appear all the more lifelike. Relatively easy to produce and inexpensive, these photographs circulated widely, profiting photographers while meeting the high demand for novel visions of the land.
