DescriptionThis albumen carte de visite is a three-quarter-length standing portrait of George Bancroft (1800-1891), diplomat and historian. This CDV is from C. D. Fredericks & Co., New York, Havana, and Paris. The mount is rectangular; the face of the card is bordered by double brown lines. Mr. Brancroft faces the camera, turned slightly to his proper right. His right arm rests on a pedestal; left hand on waist. He has light hair and beard.
