Page Marsden 51.1.1 This large baluster-shaped tankard with applied cast shell thumb-piece was made by the partnership of Thomas Whipham and Charles Wright. A similar tankard by Whipham and Wright was made about a decade later for an American merchant, John Williams of Boston, who purchased the coffeepot in London in 1767 to celebrate his appointment as Inspector General of Customs for North America.
