DescriptionA Kashan buff pottery horse and rider figure. Modeled figure of horse with rider. Horse has cylindrical legs, slightly flared at hoof; rounded head, thick ears, coil reins, small animal (dog?) riding on rump. Rider's legs undifferentiated. Right arm against waist holding reins, left arm extended. Wears round shield with small bosses on his back, high headdress which opens at top of head to hollow body. Turquoise glaze overall with underglaze black detailing of facial features, clothing and horse trappings. Front legs joined by rectangular section for a base, as are back legs.
