Goldsmith and Art Purchase Funds 89.125.4 Although primarily a west coast-based photographer, in 1909, Annie Brigman spent eight months in New York. She met Alfred Stieglitz at his art gallery known as 291 and became one of his favored photographers. She became a member of Stieglitz' Photo Secession, and had her work published in three issues of Camera Work. She was an ardent feminist who separated from her husband to seek her destiny and is best known for her allegorical nudes made outdoors in the natural environment.
