DescriptionSeated man has left hand on left knee, right hand on right knee making fist forming hole for something to fit into it. Wears flowing robe of very dark aubergine with yoke and cape in straw, ochre and green glazes. Straight black hair hangs down back. Figure's face, hands, and bare feet are unglazed. Green glaze for base (or "rock") on which he sits. Patches of glaze missing on robe, notably right waist area, right knee, and left ankle. This figure probably that of Kuan Ti, God of War, in his civil aspect as a magistrate.
