Label TextIn the manner of Sanford Robinson Gifford American (1823-1880) Colossi, 19th century Oil on canvas Gift of Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. 71.2093 The Colossi of Memnon are all that remain of the large mortuary temple complex of King Amenhotep III. The two great seated figures are sixty-four feet in height and their size is an indication of the grandeur of the temple. The sculpture of Sekhmet displayed in this gallery was made for the Temple of Amenhotep.
