DescriptionThis is a vintage platinum print of Alfred Steiglitz's secretary, Marie Rapp.Label TextAlfred Stieglitz American, 1868–1949 Marie Rapp, 1915 Platinum print Subjects of portraits could range from important figures to everyday acquaintances of the photographer. Here Alfred Stieglitz, considered the father of modern photography, captures Marie Rapp, the secretary at his Gallery 291 in New York. Known for an early style that emulated painterly effects, Stieglitz developed a clearer, less manipulated style in his portraits, urban studies, and landscapes.
