DescriptionThis is a digital pigment print.Label TextBob Lerner American (b. 1926) Papa Doc, Duvalierville, Haiti, 1962, printed 2004 Digital pigment print or inkjet print Gift of the artist T2004.15 Working as a staff photographer for Look magazine from 1951 to 1971, Lerner traveled to 50 countries on five continents and to each of America's 50 states. His photojournalist work included sports greats, political giants, talented celebrities, peace rallies, poverty-stricken and mentally-challenged individuals and families, street scenes from around the world, and glamour. Historically, the photographers at Look have been overshadowed by its primary competitor magazine, Life. Because the photographers at Look worked as a team with writers, the culture of the magazine did not encourage individuals to be stars.
