DescriptionThis ship's wheel was recovered from a partially submerged vessel in the southern branch of the Elizabeth River in 1919. It is one of the few artifacts that remain from the thousands of wooden ships that passed through Norfolk's harbor since the time of the city's first settlement in 1682.
