DescriptionForeground shows a red boat with a purple sail in a harbor. A figure of a person is in the boat. Background has other boats and a gray building on right. Verso inscription says the view is in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Label TextBlanche Lazzell American, 1878–1956 Early Dawn, 1940 Watercolor on paper A native of West Virginia, Blanche Lazzell studied in New York and Paris and was one of the earliest American proponents of Cubism. Later in her career she spent summers working in Cape Cod, and Provincetown, Massachusetts, where this work was almost certainly created.
