DescriptionThis chromogenic print is of a woman's face. The image is blurry but the outline of her face, features and blue eye makeup are seen clearly.Label TextJean-Christian Bourcart French (b. 1960) Stardust #14, 2006 Chromogenic print, printed 2007 Museum purchase, in memory of Alice R. and Sol B. Frank 2008.3.1 Going to the cinema early in the morning and looking for empty theaters, Jean-Christian Bourcart photographed the small window that separates the projection booth from the public space. The resulting images focus on the interstitial space produced by the beam of light that projects from the projector onto the screen. Instead of showing crisp, colossal movie stars, all one can decipher from the photographs in Stardust is the actress’ silhouette. Captured in true detail are the scratches, dust particles, and fingerprints on the booth’s window.
