DescriptionThe bronze sculpture is a small study design for a fountain, with a shallow basin supported by three circling figures who walk counter-clockwise, with their three left arms raised to support the basin, and their three right arms lowered and interlocked at the center of the piece. The base is hexagonal, and each figure makes a long stride so that the left (rear) leg of each crosses atop the extended forward right leg of the subsequent figure. Though stylized with little detail and no faces, they appear to be male and can be read as laborers, in workmen’s clothes.ProvenanceGifted to the Chrysler Museum of Art by Joel Rosenkranz and Janis Conner in December 2016
