DescriptionUSA. Massachusetts. 1999. District chief Mike McNamee. Surveys the smoldering ruins of the warehouse that swallowed six of his men last December 3. The fire in Worcester started with a candle in an abandoned warehouse. It ended with temperatures above 3000 degrees the men of the Worcester fire department in a fight for their lives. This photo shows one of the firemen standing by a chain link fence with a bouquet of flowers through one of the links.
