Late in life, Renoir changed his style from the pure paint and short brushstrokes of his impressionist phase, seen in Daughters of Durand-Ruel in this gallery. Instead, he used thin paint, mixed on the palette, and applied in longer strokes. While his impressionist works are more popular today, during his life Renoir was widely admired for this loose technique, especially by artists like Cezanne and Picasso. Gift of Frances M.
