DescriptionThis mixed-media artwork is a wall-mounted mosaic sculpture. Its shape looks like a sun, with light rays radiating outward from a circular, concave center. The substructure consists of a flat, solid wood back with scored and folded tile backer board that has been glued and screwed to the wood back. The form was spread with mortar and covered in a mosaic of embedded crystal, quartz, obsidian, onyx, hematite, and black glass pieces cemented into place. Unsanded grout with a glitter additive fills the spaces between the mosaic pieces. All the materials are black in color.
