Image Not Available for Blackwell at his camera during the eclipse while the sun was more than 9/10th's covered by the moon. Blackwell spent five weeks in Arabia preparing for these vital three minutes during which time he took 3,000 pictures with a high speed 35 mm camera. His camera was synchronised with chronometers and also with time signals radioed from Rugby, so that the time of each exposure could be recorded to the fraction of a second
