DescriptionVase of clear glass. Sloping cylinder with a curved bottom. Slight bulge 4" from the irregularly scalloped rim. Intaglio engraved art nouveau lily and leaf design. Six "frosted" blossoms around the rim. Star cut bottom.Label TextTHE FINE ART OF ENGRAVING Engraving was another luxurious method of decorating glass at the end of the nineteenth century. The decoration could be shallow or deep and was meticulously crafted on copper-wheel lathes. The intricacy and flexibility of this method was well suited for flowing natural motifs, compared to the rigid geometry of brilliant cut glass.
