DescriptionThis is a pressed colorless lead-formula glass cup plate depicting a suspension bridge, probably the one built at Wheeling, (West) Virginia, in 1849. This plate has two arcs of stars in the sky around the sun, heavily rusticated stonework in the bridge, and water extending completely across the foreground.ca. 1840
