DescriptionThe work is comprised of 7 hanging plumb bob forms that represent 7 individual cities-- Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, and Tulsa . Viviano creates a 3D visualization of these places by transforming rigid statistical information about the cities into tranquil abstractions. Mining historical population data, the artist uses the length of each form to depict time, the width to describe population density, and colors to indicate periods of change.
