DescriptionA lithograph of New Berne, NC, showing the town on a peninsula between the Trent & Neuse Rivers. Two bridges at left (one with train about half way over), two American flags fly about center of town (one at end of avenue and other to right of avenue in an open space) and other flags fly at the camps around edge of town. Boats in foreground are named in the margin below gray framing line as follows: U.S.M. Steamers (Albany, Major Rucker, Terry, Jersey Blue, Dudley Buck), Revenue, Valley City, Underwriter, Shawsheen, John Faron, Hunchback, Fort Totten, Cuban Pilot, C.E. Paige, Yacht, Hetzel, U.S. Lilliputian Steamship Slaght, Deleware, Vidette and Ella May. Tinted blue in sky and over most of remaining portions. Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1864 by V. Combe in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York.
