DescriptionFigurine of the god Osiris standing in his usual mummy shroud, in his typical position: arms crossed on his chest, holding the royal scepters (hook and whip, or flagellum) in his hands. He wears the atef-crown, a high, feathered crown with a sun disk on top of it.

Brown 87.496 As king of the dead, ruler of the underworld, and judge of the deceased, the god Osiris stood at the center of Egyptian religious thought and of every Egyptian's quest to achieve eternal life. Dedicated to the god, votive figurines like this one abounded in ancient Egypt and were often placed in temples to garner his favor and blessing.
