DescriptionAn oil painting showing a street in the Negro section of an American city. Rose brick and yellow clapboard houses, often trimmed in brilliant green, predominate the scene. People move about and buy from the stationary and mobile vendors. Gray over red painted frame.Exhibition History"Contemporary Va. and N.C. Displayed in a window of Rice's Fashion Corner for "International Museum Week," Oct. 7-13, 1956. "One man show," Hollins College, VA, March 3-26, 1958. Borrowed by artist for "Pa. Academy Faculty Show," Spring 1950 and "Pennsylvania Exhibition," Returned 6/23/50 by the artist. Varnished the canvas and retouched the frame.
