Label TextCircle of Jean-Antoine Houdon French, Paris (1741-1828) Bust of a Woman Marble Gift of Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. 77.10 This spirited marble bust was probably produced by a follower of Jean-Antoine Houdon, who ranked among the most gifted portrait sculptors working in late-18th-century France. With her animated drapery and deeply chiseled coiffure, the young woman epitomizes the energy and verve of the Parisian rococo.
