DescriptionWoman looks directly at viewer while her left arm rests on a lyre. This is a large oil on canvas painting. It is a portrait of a woman. Her skin is creamy and her cheeks have the blush of youth, which contrasts her graying hair. Curled on her head, a long braid reaches around her and over her left shoulder. Pearls are intertwined in the braid, blending in with the ornate decorations of her shining gold dress. She is draped with a striped mauve cloth. She wears large clustered earrings, black lace, and a pear-shaped pearl at her neck. Her right arm rests on a lyre while the left rests at her side. Her lips almost curl into a smile.Label TextCharles-Antoine Coypel French, Paris (1694-1752) Portrait of a Woman, ca. 1745 Oil on canvas Gift of Walter P.
