Although he works exclusively in color, Joel Meyerowitz considers himself a "street photographer" in the tradition of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Garry Winogrand. As an early advocate of color photography, he was instrumental in changing the attitude toward the use of color from one of resistance to revelation. His first book, Cape Light, is considered a classic work of color photography. Ten of his photographs are included in the Chrysler collection.
