Chrysler, Jr. 71.6257 (GAT 64.63) Doros #107 Tiffany's patrons, the H.O. Havemeyers, donated a very similar Tiffany plaque to The Metropolitan Museum of ARt in 1896. Ceramic and even matal plaques, or charges, were extremely popular as wall ornaments (particularly in dining rooms) during the late 19th century and the opening years of this century. Tiffany's illustration (right), which was photographically reproduced in The Art Work of Louis C. Tiffany, shows how Tiffany himself used ceramic plaques for decoration in his own dining room in the Bella Apartment about ten years before he began making Favrile glass. Added by:AGM
