Label TextUntitled, ca. 1915 Sentinels of the Past, ca. 1915 Gelatin silver prints (photographs) Careful inspection reveals that these two prints were made from the same negative. The lighter version shows more details of the dunes and beach grass, while the darker emphasizes the texture in the sky. This second version appeared in National Geographic in 1915, but Mann evidently produced and sold both commercially.
