Metzner worked as an art director for a major advertising firm before devoting herself full time to photography in 1968. The pictorializing effects of her early black and white still lifes and nudes are evident in her later color photographs, which are printed using the turn of the century Fresson process. Seeking the perfection of form through color and texture, Metzner's soft focus photographs have been described as blending a timeless intimacy with modern elegance.Exhibition History"Photographs from the Chrysler Museum," The Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, VA, February 26-April 23, 1989
