DescriptionThis is a paperweight-style vase of transparent green-tinted glass. The base is six-petalled and the body is divided into six rounded sections by deep indentations that extend to the middle of the shoulder. In each section is a plume of translucent amber and green feathers attached to a thin green stem. At the top of the stem is a "peacock eye." The opaque eyes are made by the millefiori technique and are chartreuse, olive-green, red, blud, chartreuse, olive-green, red and blue. The eyes are bordered by thin green feathering that reaches the rim. The interior has a multi-colored iridescence, and there is a rough pontil.Exhibition History"Tiffany Glass: A Riot of Color," Muscarelle Museum of Art, Williamsburg, VA, April 16 - July 12, 2009.Published ReferencesGrover. _Art Glass Nouveau_. pg. 112. _Chrysler Museum Newsletter_, Nov. 1972, article and illustration.
