DescriptionZhun Yao jar. Jar/vse molded into form of pilgrim-bottle-shape with two handles. Ten bosses carved in high relief around shoulder, a form derived from an ancient bronze bell. The bosses signify nipples. The silvery blue ZHUN YAO glaze, which is heavily crackled, drops short of the base. Some parts show reddish spots. The main purpose of ZHUN YAO is to have such spots. The reddish spots are caused by an over-concentration of iron in portions of the paste, and may not occur on purpose, but the effect is very pleasing and not detrimental.
