DescriptionA hollow, blown glass sculpture with a bean-shaped form that is based on Anish Kapoor's steel "Cloud Gate" sculpture in Chicago. The surface has a geometric pattern of iridescent rainbow hues, that spiral tightly together at the two short ends; the base has been cold-worked with two flat circular spots for stability. The sculpture was made starting out with a flat disc of dichroic glass that had been fused with several layers of opaque black glass; this disc was then heated, free-blown, and shaped with the addition of overlaid gathers of clear glass to increase size and thickness.
