DescriptionWine glass, second half of the 17th century, façon de Venise or a Venetian Export, possibly made at the London Glasshouse of George, 2nd Duke of Buckingham. Blown and tooled colorless glass, conical bowl; the stem composed of a merese, an angular knop, an inverted baluster which is quatrefoil in cross-section, and a merese; wide circular foot with rough pontil mark.

Gift of the Wunsch Foundation 97.15.2 This glass has a history connecting it with the Dukes of Buckingham, suggesting that it could have been made at the 2nd Duke's glasshouse in London. ProvenanceProbably from a glasshouse of the Duke of Buckingham; collection of the Countess of Rosse Nymans Park, Nr. Hayward Heath, Sussex; sold by Sotheby's on the premises 27th June 1994; Mr. E.M.
