Label TextDouglas Leichter American, b. 1946 Left Angle, 1968 Mixed media Left Angle is an early work of artist Douglas Leichter, who was experimenting with the limits of materials and canvas surfaces, especially forms with hard edges. Here the artist wrapped fabric around a wooden frame to create a three-dimensional object. The piece hangs on the wall like a painting, but it has more depth. The shortened top angle draws the eye upward, suggesting movement. The piece connects to minimalism—a style focused on presenting the essence of an object or idea. Gift of Mr. Leonard Bocour 69.91.2
