Label TextCRACKED WINDOW: TROY HUMPHRIES AT THE WAYNESBORO STATION Waynesboro, Virginia, 1955 L2004.11.3 In mid-April, 1955, Winston Link returned to Virginia for his second trip to photograph the Norfolk and Western Railway. He returned to Waynesboro, Virginia, again, to make photos for the third time at the Waynesboro station. Link loved the interior of the station agent's office, with its ancient fittings, and made the photograph of night agent Troy Humphries through the cracked glass of the station window. Here is Winston Link's description of the scene: This photo was made in April of 1955-as of August 1956, the crack had not improved, only more tape was added. Some time later, the entire station and office was torn down without a trace of any part of this favorite location [remaining].
