Working as a staff photographer for Look magazine from 1951 to 1971, Bob Lerner traveled to fifty countries on five continents and to every American state. His photojournalist work included celebrities in sports, politics, and culture as well as scenes of peace rallies, intellectually disabled individuals and families, and street scenes from around the world. Historically, the photographers at Look have been overshadowed by its primary competitor Life magazine. Look photographers worked as a team with writers, creating a culture that did not encourage individuals to be stars.
