DescriptionThis is a 'William Pitt' Cylindrical Mug. Printed in black on the front with a bust-length portrait of William Pitt the Elder, Earl of Chatham (1708-78) by Robert Hancock after a portrait by William Hoare, above him a flying cherub holding a wreath, on one side the trumpeting angel of 'Fame' [version number 2], and on the reverse Minerva holding a spear, leaning on her shield and seated above clouds, the back with a ribbed loop handle.
