Label TextAl Capp American (1909–1979) Daisy Mae Got L'il Abner, 1974 Silk screen Gift of Mr. Leslie Kleyman, ICC Industries, Inc. 78.650.7C The bumbling Abner is pursued for many years by the illustrious Daisy Mae, who eventually drags him to the altar in 1952. Abner reluctantly proposed, mostly in emulation of his favorite comic book anti-hero, Fearless Fosdick, who proposed to Prudence Pimpleton. This print humorously shows Daisy Mae lugging the mud-covered Abner to their wedding. Li’l Abner and Daisy Mae’s marriage received widespread national attention and graced the cover of Life Magazine that year. Their child, Honest Abe, was born in 1953.
