DescriptionStartled Jealous Viper is a glass vessel measuring 40 x 26-1/2 x 15-1/2 inches. The work is composed of a colorful fused murrine pattern. The profile of the work is almost bird-like, blown into a large asymmetrical sculpture with a large hump and long attenuated neck. The colors include patterned rows of blueberry, deep purple, magenta, cranberry and tangerine, darker at the base and more transparent at the blown out “hump” of the vessel. The neck is composed of larger murrine in tangerine that extend to the lip of the work. It is signed Stephen Powell 2009 AXT on the square glass base.
