DescriptionThis is an oil on canvas painting mounted on panel of a mother and her daughter. The child is dressed in white with blue bows at her sleeves. She sits on the right arm of the chair her mother occupies. The child stares out of the painting while playing with her mother's gold chain. The Mother wears a high waisted black dress with long full black sleeves. There is a generous amount of lace at her cuffs, around her neck and draped over the shoulders. Her cap is also lace run though with a large yellow ribbon. Her jewelry consists of large silver earrings ( only the left one is visible), a gold wedding band set with a red stone, two gold bands on her right ring finger, a small brooch at her neckline and the gold chain which holds a watch and other trinkets. There is an opened window with a curtain draped across showing a bit of landscape in the background.
