DescriptionA very heavy, tear-drop shaped blown glass vase that has a thin neck with a tiny opening; the thick colorless glass has a linear tear-drop pattern of black glass that replicates the shape of the vase, appearing repeatedly and concentrically, gradually becoming smaller as the motif moves inward to the center of the vessel in an illusionistic manner. There are a few air bubbles visible, and the vessel is signed on the bottom in engraved script “Seguso Vetri D’Arte Murano.” Astrale is made with the techniques of incalmo (joining two bubbles) and overlain decoration on sommerso.
