DescriptionA solid-worked glass sculpture of colorless glass, with internal swirls of black and colorless glass with air bubbles; the sculpture is roughly oval but is not regular in shape, with several indentations. One short side is signed in engraved script “GPaolo Seguso / 2016.” This is an example of the solid, hot-sculptured artworks from the designer’s most recent series, I Sassi (“Stones”). Each round-bodied sasso is able to be set into a rhythmic, rocking motion and were intended to be exhibited at rest with projected imagery. The deep black glass swirls set within the colorless mass refer to the dark of night (notturno).
ProvenanceGift of Vernon Hill to Chrysler Museum, June 2020.
